While most people think that they are safe from violent crimes, unfortunately this is not always the case today. These crimes happen to “other people,” right? Wrong! You can’t go through life thinking that such events will never happen to you, because the unfortunate reality is that they might. In fact, every second of the day a violent crime is happening somewhere in the United States.

There are, of course, a few things that you can do to prepare without having to carry anything special. Keep your doors and windows locked, and don’t walk anywhere alone at night. However, such strategies may not be enough to prevent an assault. You never know when or where it could happen, so you need to be prepared in additional ways rather than avoiding situations that could lead to an attack.

Another method that you may like to think would work in a self defense situation is using martial arts moves. However, such moves will likely pale in comparison to the attacker’s skills, sheer size, and weapons. Remember that your attacker came prepared to fight; you did not. Fighting against an attacker using your own strength should only be used as a last resort when you are caught unprepared. If any self defense weapons are available, you should use them first. Even if other weapon-like objects such as car keys or sticks are available, you should use them before resorting to kicking, punching, or other physical moves. These just don’t have a very good chance of working against a determined assailant, and you are likely to get yourself hurt this way.

A much better way to defend yourself rather than relying on prevention tactics or physical moves alone is to carry a self defense weapon with you. Now, this doesn’t have to mean a firearm or a knife. You can choose from a whole range of non-lethal self defense weapons, most small enough to fit into a jacket pocket or handbag. The most popular types include stun guns, TASER devices, pepper spray, and personal alarms. None of these should cause permanent harm to your attacker, but will stop them in their tracks and call attention to your situation.

You may think that it would be easier to simply yell and kick if you’re being attacked, but actually it is very easy to use any of the self defense devices mentioned here. In fact, they require no skill to use, unlike handguns or other devices. Simply press the button and aim the device at your attacker.

When considering your own safety, it is very important not to rely on others to protect you. If someone tries to attack you, what are the chances that there is a police officer or security guard within eyesight or hearing range? It’s probably not very likely. After all, most attackers will choose to attack you when you appear vulnerable to such an attack, because they don’t want to be caught. You’ll be essentially on your own to call others’ attention to the attack and stop your attacker from continuing. Carrying self defense products is a wise investment for your own safety.

Tips For Self-defense

When you involve into a fight or an attack, you should be prepared to self-defense and protect yourself from being injured. Here are some simple tips.

When you are unable to deal with an attack, you can run; but you should make sure that you can run fast enough to escape the brutal attacker. Speed and endurance all play a role in how fast you can run. Don’t go walking down a dark street with jewelry and a thick wallet. This makes it easier to give it up in order to protect yourself.

If you run, most of attackers will not chase you. If they do, you must evaluate whether or not they can catch you. If they can, you should not keep running. Instead, you should stop, turn and face them. When they get close, you can give s snake strike to their eyes, a palm strike to the nose or a stomp kick to their knees which can stall them enough to let you escape.

When confronting an attack, you should express confidence. You should keep your chin up and walk confidently with erect posture and at a moderate pace. You should not show your fear and nervousness. If you show your weakness, the opponent will be more insatiable.

Do not provoke a fight as possible as you can. When you offend others, you should apologize. When you are offended, you should be tolerant. When necessary, you have to swallow your pride to protect yourself and people around you.

If the attackers just want you cash or money, you can give him the small amount of cash to avoid the violence. Your life is worth more cash than you could ever carry.

When you are threatened, you should switch into a protective state of mind and think rationally. Do not freeze up. You should immediately work out what you should do next. Only in this way can you get rid of the attack easily.
